By Sushant Mehta on March 8, 2013

The Disk Cleanup is a free built-in utility in Windows which allows you to free up space on the hard disk by removing files that can be safely deleted. You can use Disk Cleanup for the following:

  • Removing temporary Internet filesclean up PC
  • Removing downloaded program files
  • Emptying the Recycle Bin
  • Removing optional Windows components which you no longer use
  • Removing programs which you no longer use
  • Removing Windows temporary files

To start Disk Cleanup in Windows 7, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the Windows icon in the taskbar
  2. Type Disk Cleanup in the Start Search box, and then press Enter
  3. In the Files to delete box, select the checkbox before each type of file that you want to remove (the amount of space you will free up by deleting each type will be displayed next to it).
  4. Click the OK button
  5. Click the Delete Files button when asked, “Are you sure you want to permanently delete these files?”

Disk Cleanup is not the only pc maintenance task that you should regularly perform; remove unwanted startup programs and defrag your hard disk regularly as well. If you fail to run maintenance tasks your PC will become bloated and will not perform at its best. Apart from slowing down your normal PC operations, this may lead to errors, crashes and unpredictable behaviour in programs.

By Sushant Mehta on March 7, 2013

Many people who use iPad don’t realize that they can use it to work with documents. One application that you may need if you want to work with Office applications on iPad is Quickoffice Pro HD. Although a paid application, Quickoffice Pro HD offers many benefits such as:

  • It is compatible with Microsoft Office
  • It allows you to create, edit, and view Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 2010 documents
  • It supports many older formats such as .ppt, .xls, .doc formats
  • It includes a spell checker and several font options
  • It can be saved in Dropbox

The last feature is perhaps the most important. It allows you to work on documents from anywhere. Here’s how you can download Quickoffice Pro HD and save it in Dropbox.

  1. Visit the App store, and locate and buy Quickoffice Pro HD
  2. Add Dropbox to this application. To do this, tap the plus sign located at the far bottom left of your screen and select Dropbox
  3. Enter the login information, and then tap Sign in. Now you can easily work on word documents or make presentations on your iPad.

Whether it is iPad, iPhone, or Mac notebook, its’ performance may decrease as time goes on. If you want your Mac notebook to perform as new when it gets older, use an advanced Mac optimization tool.

How to use Internet Explorer 8 in Windows 8

By Sushant Mehta on March 3, 2013

Internet Explorer 10, or IE 10, is the default web browser in Windows 8. It is also the latest version of Microsoft web browser. However, some websites don’t work with IE 10 and can only be accessed with older IE versions like IE 8. A workaround for such situations is available in IE 10. Let’s have a look at it.

Open IE 10 in desktop mode, and then press F12. Navigate to the Developer Tools located at the bottom. The Developer Tools menu bars contain two options Document Mode and Browser Mode. Click both one by one and select a previous version of IE in each. Another option is to use VMware or some other virtualisation software.

Anyone who is connected to the Internet must take adequate precautions to safeguard against virus, malware, and identity theft. Two must-have protection tools are firewall and antivirus tool. While Windows comes with a built-in firewall, an antivirus tool is something you would need to purchase. A good antivirus tool, however, is worth every cent as it keeps your data and pc safe and secure.
