How to fix connapi.dll error

By Sushant Mehta on September 17, 2013

Connapi.dll error usually occurs when you try to run an application. However, it can also occur as Windows loads aswell as at other times. As is the case with other dll files, a connapi.dll not found error or a connapi.dll missing error does not always occur when the required dll file is missing.

Besides missing file, other causes of a missing or not found error are:

  • Malware infection
  • Incomplete installation of a program

Solution

Check whether the file is present or not

Using the Windows search function, check whether the connapi.dll file is present or not on your computer.

If the file is absent, do the following:

Re-install any recently uninstalled program – A single dll file is often used by many programs and Windows operating system. Often a dll file gets mistakenly removed during the uninstallation of a particular program. When this happens, a not found or missing error is reported each time another program sends a request for it.

If the error started occurring after removal of a particular program, we recommend you to re-install it, and then uninstall it using the Add or Remove Programs utility.

Download it from the Internet – Download connapi.dll from a reputable online dll files directory and register it.

When you download any file from an online directory, remember two things: (1) ensure that the source is genuine and (2) scan the downloaded file for virus and other malware before running it.

After you’ve downloaded the connapi.dll file, follow these steps to register it:

  • Click Start>Run
  • Type regsvr32 connapi.dll
  • Press Enter

If connapi.dll is present and you are still getting the error, perform the following steps.

Run a virus scan – Connapi.dll error often has been noted to occur due to virus infection, and the same may be true in your case. To remove virus and other threats, update your antivirus program (if you don’t have one, immediately download and install a compatible, reliable, and fast antivirus application), close all programs, reboot Windows in the Safe Mode, and run a full system scan.

Reinstall the program with which error is occurring – Incomplete installation of a program or application can also cause dll errors. If the connapi.dll error is occurring with only one application, chances are that the program is not properly installed. To fix the issue, uninstall the program using the built-in Add or Remove programs utility. After you have uninstalled the program, restart Windows and re-install it.

How to turn a Windows laptop into a WiFi Hotspot

By Sushant Mehta on September 11, 2013

Sometimes it can be difficult to get a wireless signal in certain parts of a building. This is especially true for big offices and houses. If your office or house has a few WiFi dead zones, turning your laptop into a WiFi hotspot will allow you to connect other devices in the dead zones to the Internet.

The laptop-hotspot also proves useful when you are outside. You can connect your mobile or other devices to the Internet through your laptop.

To convert Windows 7 laptop into a WiFi hotspot, follow these steps:

  • Right-click the Internet Access icon in the system tray, and then click Open Network and Sharing Centre
  • In the Network and Sharing Centre window, click Change Adapter Settings, that is listed in the left pane
  • In the next Window, right-click the Local Area Connection icon, and then click the Sharing tab
  • Click the box before Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection, and then select Wireless Network Connection in the drop-down menu listed below it. If you want others to control or disable the shared Internet connection, click the second box
  • Click the OK button to close the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box
  • Next, click on Network and Internet in the address bar of the control panel window
  • Click Network and Sharing Centre
  • Ensure that your wireless adapter is turned on and then click Set up a new connection or network
  • In the Set up a Connection or Network dialog box, select Set up a wireless ad hoc (computer-to-computer) network, and then click Next
  • Click Next again
  • Give the network a name, select the Security type to WEP in the drop-down menu, enter a Security Key (password), and select the box before Hide characters. The Save this network box is by default unchecked. To select this option, simply click the box
  • Finally click the Next button

Now your laptop will function as a WiFi hotspot through which you can connect your other devices to the Internet.

Another thing you must do if you want a seamless Internet connection is to ensure that your Ethernet driver is up-to-date. An old or corrupt Ethernet driver may prevent you from accessing the Internet, besides causing other errors. The best and fastest way to update Ethernet and other drivers is by using an advanced driver update tool.

Solution to Canon Printer B200 error and similar problems

By Sushant Mehta on September 6, 2013

One of the most common Canon printer errors, B200 error, is not difficult to resolve. In addition to this error, we will look at some other common Canon printer errors and their solutions.

Update Windows 7 Canon Printer Drivers

Fix B200 Error

B200 error occurs because of a problem with the ink cartridge. To resolve this issue, ensure that the contacts on your cartridge are clean. However, in most cases this error only gets resolved when new cartridges are installed.

Error Code 5400 and its solution

Also known as internal temperature error, Error code 5400 occurs when the internal temperature is abnormal. In most cases, this error requires replacement of one of the following: the print head, the logic board, and the carriage unit.

Error Code 9000 and its solution

Error code 9000, or USB Host VBUS Overcurrent issue, occurs when the USB Host VBUS is overloaded. To fix the problem, you would need to replace the Logic board.

Error Code 6A90 and its solution

This error mostly appears during paper purging or feeding. To resolve the issue, perform the following steps in the same order they appear below.

  • Check the purge drive system unit for paper debris or foreign material. If you found any, remove it immediately.
  • Check the ASF unit for traces of stuck paper or foreign material. Remove any material that you found.
  • If these two solutions fail to fix the error, you need to replace either the Logic board or the Purge drive system unit.

Error Code 5110 and its solution

When this error occurs, the carriage stops moving down or up properly. To fix the error, perform these steps in the same order they appear here.

  • Check if there is some paper debris or foreign material around the carriage that is obstructing its movement
  • If the error persists, you may need to replace the Carriage unit or the Switch system unit

Errors mentioned here do not occur due to issues with the printer driver. However, printer driver problems are the number one cause of printer errors.

Download Canon Drivers Updates

Given the regularity with which printer errors occur due to driver problems, it is important that we focus on not only resolving these errors when they occur, but also on preventing them from occurring in the first place.

Use a driver update tool and keep all your drivers, including Canon printer drivers, up to date. Updated printer drivers ensure that your printer works well and error-free.
