Solution to 502 Bad Gateway Error

By Susan C on November 2, 2019

502 Bad Gateway error occurs not because something is wrong with your pc. Instead it happens due to some problem with the website server.

Every website can customize how the error appears in users’ web browser. Some common ways this error is described are as follows:

  • 502 Service Temporarily Overloaded
  • 502 Bad Gateway
  • Temporary Error (502)
  • Error 502
  • 502 Server Error: The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request
  • 502 Proxy Error
  • HTTP Error 502 – Bad Gateway
  • Bad Gateway: The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server
  • 502. That’s an error

There are more than a one reason why this error can occur. For instance, you can get the 502 Error when the website that you are trying to access is swamped with requests. Another reason could be that the domain name might not resolve to correct IP address. You can also get this error when you cannot reach the web server or when it is down. Some users have said that they received the error because their firewall blocked the communication. Further, some got the error because the server’s configuration was broken.

In the end, whatever the root cause, the problem basically occurs because the web server could not fulfill a genuine request.

While the issue doesn’t occur because of some problem at your side, you can still try to fix it. Here are a few solutions which other users receiving 502 error have found helpful.

Solution 1 – Reload

This is the first thing you should do if you are getting the 502 error. You can reload a web page by pressing Ctrl + F5 or simply F5 a minute or two after you received the error.

Solution 2 – Use a VPN, DNS server or Web Proxy

In case you can access a VPN or web proxy, try to connect the site through them. Similarly if you can access a 3rd party DNS server, you should give it a go as well. You might be able to get around the error using a DNS or VPN or web proxy.

Solution 3 – Use Caches

It is possible that corrupted or outdated files stored on your browser can lead to 502 error.  Therefore clear the cache and check if that fixes the issue.

Chrome users can perform these steps to clear cache:

  • Click the three vertical dots on the top right hand side of your Chrome browser and click More tools
  • Then click Clear browsing data
  • You can select a time range at the top. If you want to delete everything, simply choose All time
  • Now check the boxes next to “Cached images and files” and “Cookies and other site data”
  • Finally click Clear data

Solution 4 – Start Your Browser in Safe Mode

Last but not the least, try running your browser in safe mode. Many users have said that this trick worked for them, so it’s worth a try. When you run a browser in safe mode, it runs with default settings, without any extensions or add-ons.

HP Driver Download Explained

By Susan C on October 29, 2019

Is your HP printer not working?

If your HP printer has stopped working you might want to update your HP driver before attempting any other solution. More often than not, the root cause of printer problems is an outdated or corrupt printer driver.

You can update the HP driver in two ways:

  • Download it from HP customer support
  • Use a reliable driver update software

In this post, we’ve discussed both the methods. You can pick one that you find more comfortable.

Solution 1 – Download HP driver from customer support

Go to the HP website and locate the correct driver. To find the relevant driver, you would need the serial number or the model number of your printer. Therefore, make sure you have this information to hand.

Also, make sure the driver file you download is compatible with the version of Windows that you are using. For instance, if you use 32-bit Windows 10, the driver file must be for 32-bit PCs only.

Once you’ve downloaded the driver file, double-click it and follow onscreen instructions to complete the installation process. If needed, reboot Windows for the changes to take effect.

Now check whether the printer is working.

Solution 2 – Download HP driver using reliable driver update software

If you are not comfortable rummaging the HP driver site to locate the correct driver, we recommend you use a Driver Update Tool a try.

Automatic driver update tools offer many benefits, the most important ones being:

  • You can update device drivers automatically
  • The software scans and updates all outdated or missing drivers at one go
  • The tool picks the right drivers for your device and operating system, so you won’t have to worry about installing an incorrect driver by mistake
  • Automatic driver updates are 100% safe

Driver Updater is one of the best driver update tools out there. Outbyte Driver Updater will give you access to a database of over 1 million drivers. It will regularly scan your PC, suggesting new driver versions to install. Driver Updater contains drivers for a variety of Windows devices. With just one click, you can update drivers in your system.
