Download Drivers: Reasons To Keep Your Drivers Up-To-Date

By Sushant Mehta on March 22, 2013

Most Windows users know what Device Drivers are. However, what many don’t know is why it is absolutely necessary to keep these Drivers up-to-date.

Shared below are two reasons why you need to regularly update Device Drivers and how to update them.

Download Drivers to prevents errors

Outdated Drivers are the leading cause of Driver errors. They also, in some cases, can lead to a hardware failure. Keeping Drivers up-to-date helps you avoid many computer errors.

Update Drivers to improve your PC or laptop performance

Drivers that are not up-to-date can slow your computer and cause frequent system freeze-ups. You can prevent this from happening by regularly updating Device Drivers.

You can update your Drivers manually or automatically. To update a Driver manually, perform the following steps:

  1. Open your web browser
  2. Go to the Driver’s manufacturer’s website
  3. Search for the latest Driver
  4. Download the Driver file
  5. Double-click the Driver file to install the latest Driver

You can also update certain Drivers via Windows Update. To install the latest updates, perform these steps:

  1. Click the Windows icon in the taskbar
  2. Type windows updates in the Start Search box
  3. Press Enter
  4. Click Check for updates
  5. Check if there are any updates for your Device Drivers. Install any available updates

The manual update process can be tedious, you can avoid the hassle of searching for and downloading the latest version of every outdated Driver manually by installing and using an advanced driver update tool.

Solution to missing pthreadgc2.dll error

By Sushant Mehta on March 22, 2013

Missing or not found phtreadgc2.dll error occurs when:

  • The specific dll file is not installed
  • The specific dll file is missing
  • The specific dll file is corrupt

Dll errors, including pthreadgc2.dll error, can be fixed by performing the following steps:

Uninstall the application that is giving the error and then reinstall it

The first thing you must do is uninstall the program with which you are getting the error. Incomplete uninstallation of a program can lead to dll errors, especially of dll files which that program uses. You can uninstall programs in Windows via the Add or Remove Programs utility present in Control Panel. Once you’ve uninstalled the program, reinstall it.

Replace the pthreadgc2.dll file

If the above step does not fix the error, chances are the DLL file present is corrupt. To fix the issue, download a copy of this dll file from a genuine online dll library and register it.

You can register a dll file by performing these steps:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type regsvr32 <dll file name> and click the OK button

Run a registry scan

Problems in Windows registry can manifest as dll errors. To fix computer errors that are occurring due to registry issues, scan your registry using a registry cleaner.

Fix Avgnsx.exe error

By Sushant Mehta on March 18, 2013

Avgnsx.exe is part of the AVG Internet Security tool. An important security process, its main job is to prevent computer users from opening web pages that are classified as unsafe in the security tool.

Below are two of the most common errors related to this process, a workaround for each, and how to get rid of avgnsx.exe errors forever if they consistently reoccur.

First error

When you open Internet Explorer or some other browser, you get an error message similar to the one displayed here:

“avgnsx.exe needs to close. It has encountered an expected problem.”

Solution

You can stop the error from occurring by uninstalling the AVG security tool and installing it again using the built-in Custom option. When you reinstall the tool do not select Link Scanner.

Second error

When you open Internet Explorer or some other browser, you get an error message similar to the one displayed here:

“The instruction at 0x7c9101b3 reference at 0x781ffcfe memory cannot be written. avgnsx.exe application error”

Solution

The error can be fixed if you choose to disable Link Scanner. To do this, perform these steps:

  1. Navigate to system tray, click the icon for AVG, and then click Open
  2. Disable Link Scanner and save your preferences.

In case avgnsx.exe is causing too many errors too frequently, the only wise thing left is to replace it with another good but hassle-free antivirus tool.
