iPhone 7 tips for beginners

By Sushant Mehta on February 12, 2018

iPhone 7 is a great smartphone with several user-friendly features. We have put together a few tips and tricks that will further enhance your iPhone 7 experience.

Help with new iPhone

The Home button provides access to most of the features on an iPhone. However, the iPhone 7 does not have a physical Home button. What you see is actually a part of a capacitive, sensor-driven disc that gives you the feeling of pressing the Home button.  You can change the feeling of the click by following steps set out below:

Go to Settings > General > Home Button

You have three options to customize the feel of the Home button. Select the one you like and tap on “Done” in the right-hand corner.

Force a restart on the iPhone 7

Since the iPhone 7 does not have a Home button, the way to restart the phone also is different.  You need to hold down the Power button on the right side of the phone and the Volume down button on left side of the phone. You need to hold the two buttons simultaneously and continue holding them until you see the Apple logo.

Opening the app switcher

The app switcher can be accessed by a double tap on Home button.  The feature offers access to all apps and you can switch between any app.  However, with the introduction of 3D Touch, you have another way of opening the app switcher.  Just press down the left edge of the screen and swipe towards the center to access the app drawer.

Lift to wake up the phone

The iPhone 7 offers several features that are new to iPhone users. the Touch ID super-fast unlocking can be frustrating at times, especially when you just want to check time. One great tip that will make things easier is enabling the ‘Raise to wake’ feature. iOS 10 has a helpful feature whereby the home screen lights up the moment you pick up the phone. To enable this feature, follow the steps set out below.

Go to Settings > Display and Brightness and look for the Raise to Wake toggle.  Move the slider to the On position to enable the ‘Raise to wake’ feature.

Reading Lyrics as you listen to a song

This feature will be of interest to some and very few are aware of it! You can read the lyrics of a song playing in the Music app itself. To read the lyrics, follow the steps set out below:

  1. Tap the Now Playing section
  2. Tap the three dotted lines in the bottom-right corner of the screen and you should see an option “Lyrics”
  3. Tap the Lyrics option to see the lyrics of the song

There are of course numerous other features of the iPhone 7 but these are just a few quick tips to get you started!

How to connect Canon printer to wireless network?

By Sushant Mehta on February 8, 2018

If you are using a Canon wireless printer, you don’t need cables to print documents from your laptop or smartphone. However, you will need the cable while setting up the Canon wireless printer.

Update Canon Printer Drivers

Steps to set up a Canon wireless printer

  1. Press the Home button on your Canon printer
  2. Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select the WLAN icon
  3. Press the left function button
  4. The WLAN setup appears on the screen, select the option
  5. Press the OK button
  6. The Blue WiFi indicator lights up which indicates the wireless connection is enabled
  7. You are presented with two setup options– WPS and Standard Setup
  8. By default, the printer selects WPS setup method
  9. Press the button indicated on the display which says “Other Methods”
  10. Select Standard Setup and Press OK
  11. The printer will start searching for available WiFi networks and display it
  12. After you select the network, you will be prompted to enter a password
  13. Enter the password to connect to the WiFi network
  14. After you have entered the password, tap on the left function button to select Done
  15. The network password will be displayed if the password entered is correct
  16. Press the OK button
  17. The printer will now connect to the WiFi network

Sometimes the wireless printing does not work and users are confused about the exact problem with wireless printing. One of the most common issues with wireless printing is “printer is not able to connect to WiFi network”.

Wireless Printer unable to connect to WiFi network

If you are facing a problem connecting the printer to the wireless network, the first thing you need to do is update the Drivers  for your Canon printer. You will get the latest driver updates from the Canon website and if you have difficulty finding the Drivers, or would like to automate the updates, use a driver update tool.

Updating Drivers Automatically

Automatic driver update tools offer many benefits, the most important ones being:

  • You can update device drivers automatically
  • The software scans and updates all outdated or missing drivers at one go
  • The tool picks the right drivers for your device and operating system, so you won’t have to worry about installing an incorrect driver by mistake
  • Automatic driver updates are 100% safe

Driver Updater is one of the best driver update tools out there. Outbyte Driver Updater will give you access to a database of over 1 million drivers. It will regularly scan your PC, suggesting new driver versions to install. Driver Updater contains drivers for a variety of Windows devices. With just one click, you can update drivers in your system.

Step 1
Click here to Install and launch the app

Step 2
Scan all devices

Step 3
Install or update drivers automatically

Start Download

Search for your printer model and check for driver updates for your Windows OS. If that doesn’t help, you need to run the setup program CD provided with your printer and run it again. You will be required to connect your PC and the printer via USB cable during installation.

If you have tried everything and the issues still persists, check the WiFi connection by following troubleshooting steps given below:

  1. Select Setup on the Home Screen of your printer
  2. Choose Device Settings and Press the OK button
  3. Use the Up and Down arrow button to choose LAN settings and Press the OK button
  4. Use the Up or Down button to choose to Confirm LAN settings and Press the OK button
  5. Use the Up or Down button to choose select Print LAN details and Press the OK button
  6. Use the Up or Down button to choose Yes and Press the OK button

When you get the connection details, check signal strength. This should be in the range of 70-80 or higher. If it is less, you need to move the printer closer to your router or vice-versa. If there is more than one WiFi network in your vicinity, change the router broadcast channel to a less crowded one.
