How do I register a DLL file?
When you download a dll file, you must register it. To register a DLL file, you need to perform the following steps:
In Windows 7 & Windows Vista
- Click the Windows icon in the taskbar
- Type command prompt in the Start Search dialog box, and then press Enter
- In the command prompt, type regsvr32 <filename>.dll, and then press Enter
In Windows XP
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type cmd in the Open box, and then press OK
- In the command prompt, type regsvr32 <filename>.dll, and then press Enter
There are several situations in which you may need to download and register a dll file. The most common situation is when you receive a dll error and the dll file listed in the error message is not present on your computer.
However, when you download a dll file, ensure that the online dll directory you select is safe and secure. In addition, scan the downloaded dll file for virus infection using an advanced antivirus tool before registering it.
