Spoolsv.exe error is related to Windows Print Spooler Service or the Spooler Subsystem App. Spoolsv.exe is a system and hidden file and the main component of printing services. It allows you to print in the background and is responsible for how Windows manages printing tasks on your computer.

What causes a Spoolsv.exe error?

Spoolsv.exe error occurs due to various reasons such as printer jobs not getting removed automatically from the Windows spool, which in turn leads to high usage of the CPU and memory. The error can also be caused by third party Printer Drivers or malware.

Solution for – spoolsv.exe – Application Error. The instruction at “0x10002837” referenced memory at “0x00000000”.  The memory could not be “written”

This message is generally displayed when Windows boots. The reason of the error is too many .SHD and .SHL files in the spool directory. These files are created to save spooled data of a print job. To resolve the error you need to remove .SHD and .SHL files from the system. Always create a system backup before carrying out tasks such as this.

  7. Next, open the TMP folder and delete all files in the folder
  8. You have to restart the Spooler Service again. Repeat the Steps 1 to 3 and in the Step 4, select “Start” instead of “Stop”

Note: If you are unable to delete files in the Normal mode, you must boot Windows in Safe Mode and perform the steps outlined above.

To start your computer in safe mode, press the F8 button when Windows is loading up and select the Safe Mode option from the various options listed in the Windows Advanced Options Menu.

If deleting files does not solve the problem, you will need to perform a system restore to restore Windows to an earlier state when there was no spoolsv.exe error.

  1. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System tools
  2. On the Welcome to System Restore screen, select the Restore my computer to an earlier time option
  3. Select Next
  4. On the “Select Restore Point screen”, select the date that represents the restore point to which you want to roll back your computer
  5. Select “Next”
  6. Verify and select “Next” again to confirm your action and let the system proceed with System Restore
  7. Restart your PC when prompted
  8. Select OK to complete the System Restoration procedure

Start using Twitter in 6 easy steps

By Sushant Mehta on July 7, 2015

Twitter is a popular micro-blogging platform with over 200 million active users. Joining it not only gives you a chance to connect with your friends, even the long lost ones, but also allows you to spread awareness about your business or area of interest.

Different people join Twitter for different reasons, but if you are not on it you may be missing a great opportunity to connect with others of similar likes or interests.

Here is a step-by-step rundown on how to start using Twitter:

  1. Create a Twitter account

Go to the Twitter Website and create an account. The username you choose should help people recognize you. The username helps people identify you easily on the network and follow you.

  1. Write a interesting bio

The bio or biography is an important aspect of your Twitter account. Use this section to tell people something about yourself. The majority of people using Twitter look at the bio before deciding whether to follow that person or not.

  1. Post your first Tweet

The message that you want to send needs to be written under the box which says “What are you doing?”. The message should be of 140 characters or less. Write something interesting or informative.

  1. Build network

Look for friends and colleagues who are already using Twitter. Click on “Find People” on the top of the site and search. The search results will show a combination of people and tweets related to your search. Click “Accounts” to filter your search. Visit the profile page of these people and click on “Follow” where desired. Following people is the easiest way to tell your friends and colleagues that you have joined Twitter.

  1. Start Talking (Tweet)

Most of the time you will be telling the world what you are doing through Tweets. You can join a conversation by adding @ before the username, for example @John_brown. The person need not be in your network for you to join a conversation.

  1. Retweet

If you like something that was shared by one of your followers, why not share it with others? Retweet the message so that others can see it. Add RT followed by the @username and the message you want to retweet.

As you can see from the simple steps above, it is not that hard to use Twitter. To gain popularity through increased followers on this social media platform, ensure that you post regularly and that your tweets are both interesting and useful to the readers.

Fix Display Driver Errors

By Sushant Mehta on June 30, 2015

Your Windows PC may stop responding or hang and the following message may appear on the screen:

“Display driver stopped responding and has recovered”

This error can occur when:

  • latest updates for the Display Driver are not installed
  • your PC is running slowly because too many programs are running concurrently in the background or because of visual effects (high demand programs or games)
  • The GPU is unable to display graphics in the stipulated time

To fix the issue, perform the steps listed below in the order they are listed.

Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Step 1 – Allocate more time to GPU by tweaking the registry value of the Timeout Detection and Recovery

The Timeout Detection and Recovery feature detects when a Video Driver takes more time than usual to execute an operation. In such cases, Windows tries to recover and reset the graphics hardware. Your system is likely to stop responding and throw the aforementioned error message when GPU is not able to recover and reset the hardware within the stipulated time (2 seconds).

Tweaking the relevant registry value allows this feature more time in which it can complete the operation and may fix the problem.

Important: Before making any changes in the Windows Registry make a backup.

  1. Type regedit in the Search box and press Enter
  2. Locate and click this subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlGraphicsDrivers
  3. Go to the Edit menu and click New. Depending on whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, choose the following value:

For 32 bit Windows

  1. Choose DWORD (32-bit) value
  2. In the Name box, type TdrDelay and then press Enter
  3. Double-click TdrDelay and in the Value Data box enter 8
  4. Click OK.

For 64 bit Windows

  1. Choose QWORD (64-bit) value
  2. In the Name box, type TdrDelay and then press Enter
  3. Double-click TdrDelay and in the Value Data box enter 8
  4. Click OK

Step 2 – Download the latest Driver

Download the latest updates to update Drivers and other software. In case the updates don’t contain a new Driver version, you can download the latest Display Driver directly from the manufacturer’s website. Another method, and a much easier one, is to use a driver update tool. A Driver Update Tool with automate your Driver Updates for display and other devices, leaving you one less thing to worry about.

Step 3 – Check out possible issues with background programs or visual effects

Running multiple programs may lead to performance issues. Close unnecessary opened programs and check if that helps.

Also see if the situation improves after adjusting visual effects for better performance.

  1. Open the Control Panel window and locate and click Performance Information and Tools
  2. Click Adjust visual effects in the left pane
  3. Choose Adjust for best performance
  4. Click OK
