The Ultimate gas saver

Never mind hybrids. How about 3,145 miles per gallon? Really!

Ok, so the seating isn't comfortable and it won't carry more than the driver, but that's some feat, and it was achieved by an award-winning team of engineering students from the University of British Columbia in Canada.

The students were competing in the annual Supermileage Competition held by the Society of Automotive Engineeers. This year, forty teams from Canada, India and the United States took part in the competition. The UBC team won again for the fourth year in a row.

The University of Laval (Quebec) took second place with 1,823 mpg. Other teams represented University of Windsor (Ontario), University of California, Los Angeles, UC Berkeley, Pennsylvania State University, and the Delhi College of Engineering.

Supermileage is an annual student competition that challenges students to design, build, and drive a single person vehicle powered solely by an internal gasoline engine. No assistance from electric motors or human propulsion is allowed.

The competition took place June 9 in Marshall, Michigan.

poullain,

For the moment, any car
of this type (including electric
cycles) are awkward to
get fixed when ailing, as
the manufacturer is at a great
distance. But worthy of praise

POULLAIN Pierre,

My role in this quest has been
to make use of an "Eco-elec" brand
electric moped. It sure doesn(t
use fossil fuels, and its only
shortcoming is that spare parts
are occasionally tough to come
by. I recommend...
Thanks Gus & hope that this is
our future!!

Theodore,

I think this is one of the best ideas invented ever, with the rate our petrol price is increasing. we will really need this invention on our cars. thats grate gus keep the work up.
