Radiation and cell phone safety


There have been studies over the years but no clear conclusions about radiation hazards from mobile phones. Now, an international group of researchers is gathering in Washington to present findings and lobby for more research funding.

Dr. Henry Lai, a professor of bioengineering at the University of Washington in Seattle has been studying cell phone radiation effects on humans since 1980. He feels there is cause for concern.

"At this point," he says, "biological research suggests that long term use can have some adverse health effects with brain cancer being one of those effects."

Some researchers suggest that holding a cell phone even 10 millimeters away from the head could reduce these risks by about 100 times. End of Article
