Cheney shocks environmentalists
· Date: 2001-05-06
A article from the Denver Post editorial board describes U.S. energy policy
as outlined by Vice President Dick Cheney recently as "incomplete and
myopic." The U.S. lacks a comprehensive energy strategy, says the Post,
and the Republican Administration's current policy is inadequate in that it
tackles the supply side of the economic equation but ignores demand. Worse,
says the Post, the Bush team is crafting its policy behind closed doors, leaving
it open to serious criticism - " "Two oil guys, Bush and Cheney, are calling
for more oil drilling, while a former lobbyist for the big car makers, Andy
Card, is now chief-of-staff in a White House that disdains conservation." Read
